After a wonderfully successful pilot year, Excel Learning Academy will be hosting a summer camp to expand our reach and help more kids.
Our mission is to provide a summer camp program that supports students with behavioral challenges. As a school that embeds Applied Behavior Analysis principles into all aspects of our school model, we are eager to share our approach with more families over the summer.
Our program will include a variety of activities including crafts, board games, music and movement activities, story times, academic and independence skill building, social-emotional skills training, playground time, and outdoor water play activities.
All staff at ELA are trained in approved behavior management strategies that consist of a variety of ABA principles geared towards teaching our campers coping skills, independence, and how to advocate for themselves. Our behavior management strategies include proactive and reactive procedures that are tailored to each camper and designed in a manner to promote long-term success. Our ABA team at ELA provides ongoing monitoring and evaluation of each camper to ensure any behavior intervention strategies being used are effective and accepted.
ELA also welcomes outside therapies to assist during camp hours with written approval from the camper's family and ELA administrative staff.
Our address is 911 S Parsons Ave, Unit A Brandon, FL 33511. As our program is new, we are currently leasing a space close to a local park. Our camp will be open from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Beforecare or aftercare may be offered upon request.
Our camp is open to a wide-range of ages based on the ability level of the child. Our camp activities will be targeting a population that is at a Kindergarten - 3rd grade level. If you are not sure if your child may be a good fit, please contact us!

The staff at ELA have been an integral part of the start and immediate success of our program. All ELA staff have undergone thorough training in basic behavior principles, ELA's behavior philosophy, and our predefined procedures for managing challenging behaviors. With continuous supervision and performance monitoring, our staff ensure the seamless implementation of our program's core values and strategies. Our staff have gone through a FDLE background check and are also certified in Safety Care Crisis Prevention and De-Escalation Strategies.
ELA welcomes members of our community to volunteer at our camp. Families of children with unique needs already carry enough burden, so we rely on volunteers to keep our camp accessible and prevent additional financial burdens. Our staff at ELA provide continuous training and feedback to our volunteers to ensure all volunteers are comfortable and competent in working with our campers. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and submit a background check prior to volunteering at ELA. Volunteers must be aware that campers may engage in aggressive behaviors causing potential injury to themself or another person. ELA staff will handle all crisis-level behaviors, with volunteers available to assist after receiving comprehensive training on assisting strategies. ELA volunteers are not authorized to implement Safety Care procedures.
